HEAD OF TURKEY’S TOP RELIGIOUS BODY GIVES SPEECH IN IRAN

Attending 29th International Islamic Unity Conference in Iran, Turkey’s head of Religious Affairs Directorate Mehmet Gormez gave unity messages on Sunday, saying no strategy is more important than preventing the shedding of Muslim blood.
Gormez addressed the audience during the opening session entitled “the current crisis in the Islamic world.”
Stating that believers cannot and should not remain silent against the things happening in the region, Gormez continued to say that the understanding of seeing people who are not from their kind as heathens and discrimination harm the core values of Islam.
“We need to make an effort to deepen the understanding of our religion and to approach each other with calmness and profound tolerance,” Gormez added.
The 29th International Unity Conference which is held in Tehran, will end on December 29.
Following the conference, Gormez is expected to meet with several high-level officials including Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Ali Cenneti.
Gormez will also visit University of Islamic Sects in order to deliver a speech at a conference.
